The victims included his father, mother, brother, and grandfather. McDowell who was neglecting to use the medications for his illness created a havoc that took the lives of 4.
McDowell killed his family at his maternal grandfather’s cabin in woods, 50 miles southwest of Albany via handgun.
The day after killing his family, Eben was shot to death by the police on June 22, 1989.
Schoharie County Farm witnessed a total of 6-hours standoff between the police and criminal as McDowell opened fire on Thursday morning.
The New York state police confirmed McDowell to be dead at around 5 p.m. Eben is buried on the Stamford Cemetary, Delaware County.

Eben McDowell killed his family including his father, mother, younger brother, and maternal grandfather.
Robert H. McDowell, 59, who was a professional attorney at Stamford law office, was laid at the edge of a pond near the grandfather’s cabin along with his 22-years-old son Daniel McDowell.
Meanwhile, his mother Elizabeth McDowell, who was reportedly trying to escape, could not make it as her body was found on the pond. She was 48.
Likewise, his grandfather Charles Klepetar, 78, was shot dead in his bed.
Their dead bodies were found on the morning of Thursday, 22 June, by a social worker. McDowell had left a note on the front door of his father’s office.
Later, the police helicopter tracked him few miles north from the crime scene and half mile away from the family’s home.
